No two moments in life are the same; change is the only constant in life. And that change is the inspiration behind every innovation and invention that finds its way from the inventor’s lab to the common man’s house.
Fuelled by technology the goal of every invention is to make lives easier and convenient; however, it is not the case always. Sometimes the invention in itself defeats the purpose for which it was made.
As an Indian, the two things that drove me crazy were Cinema and Cricket and not necessarily in that order. Though Cricket is not our national game, it is by far the most loved and followed sport in India. There will hardly be any household in the country that doesn't keep abreast with the ongoing games. It is the game that unites people of India wherever they are, whenever it is played and whatever the situation.
However, there is a battle drawn between the game and the management/players; especially Indian. The growing unrest born of the controversial DRS system that Indian authorities refuse to acknowledge as part of the game has left the viewer astonished. The flak and embarrassment that this has caused the Indian cricket fan are unmentionable.
This has had me thinking a game that is more traditionally chivalrous today become more impolite and rude. And whether relying on technology will be more of a Boon or a Bane that will take it to its former glory is yet to be seen,
Though there are innumerable technological interferences in cricket, some of the most prominent ones can be seen in the form of the following:
Hot Spot
True to the name, the Hot-Spot technology uses the Heat of Ball Impact via infrared cameras to judge crucial decision of nicks and lbws. Unfortunately, the huge cost of equipment doesn’t allow its use as much as it would benefit the game.
Stump Camera
I guess it is the longest used technology in the cricketing arena. It’s more applicable for giving a closer view to the viewers than to benefit the game. However, since the last few games, I’ve seen a LED stump used that lightens when the stumps are hit by the ball or the bails are dislodged during stumping or a run-out.
TV Repeat Technology
The technology used to updates umpires and players about various glitches in the game. From whether the hit is a four or a six to whether the catch was cleanly taken or not to whether the ball was a no-ball or not and many such instances.
Decision Review System
Just like in various other sports, a player can refer a decision made by an on-field umpire for review. The third empire than uses various technological avenues at his disposal to arrive at a decision to either go with the on-field decision or reverse it. It helps minimise decision errors that could actually change the outcome of the game.
Have you ever thought about the match outcomes if there was a chance to review these horrendous umpiring decision?
Sachin Tendulkar given LBW against Australia by Steve Bucknor
AB de Villiers given not out to Zaheer Khan by Aleem Dhar
And that's just warming up to the ugliest on-flied decision, there are loads more.
So if you read through, you may feel that there are only pros to using technology and no cons. But like every coin has two sides, technology to does. Technology is great, up until it is used wisely and unanimously. Some people argue that technological interference also takes away from the human element of the game. Monetary repercussions too weigh heavily on the participating nations and the flight of fancy that some nations are able to pull their weight on using the systems.
Strengths:
§ Additional options for better and accurate decision making
§ Eliminates doubt, reduces friction among players
§ Gives the game a chance of the best possible fair result
Weaknesses:
§ Not 100% full proof
§ Unnecessary waste of time, in case of multiple reviews
§ Huge investments needed to have a universally solid system
For me, I’m a big fan of technology, especially when it helps to eliminate doubt and draw a consensus and so for me, it definitely has a place in the game.
Many may not agree with me, but that’s the beauty of the human mind. No two minds think alike, and each mind is open for change.
~ Heena
The views and the descriptions here within stems from my limited knowledge of the game and the technology used, however, they are expressed in immense desire to be part of Harsha Bhogle’s #BloggerDreamTeam.

Every relationship in life teaches you something, some for the good and some for the not good. Picking up skills and polishing talents becomes an extended version yourself and the main aim in life in to become the Superwoman in everything you do.
Slowly and steadily you try to get better each day with each experience. But you are never ready for something that is relatively new; being a mother. From the first moment you hold your baby in your arms you want to be a ‘SuperMom’. That’s the pressure the society has already put on your shoulders since the last few months.
When my baby was born, I experienced new things everyday – things that I had never experienced nor had any idea about. I was scary. I wanted to be the best to be able to do the best for my little one in every little gesture, every little task I did to protect her forever. I pushed myself off the limits, I cursed under my breathe, I punished myself when I didn’t meet my set exorbitant standards. I was going in sane.
It was over a year, when my little one just began speaking and expressing with her actions that she taught me a very precious lesson. Instead of walking up to someone who I thought was a SuperMom, she walked up straight into my arms grinning away sheepishly to give me a bear hug and mumbling something that I think was ‘I Love You Momma’.
My daughter taught me that she doesn’t need a supermom; she just needs me – her mom. A gorgeous little princess who was still learning to walk without support helped me through one of the toughest phases of my life… She taught me to be me, embrace my short-comings and flaws and live your life to the fullest. Being a mother, #MyFamilyMyPride my daughter has taught me a zillion things to be a better person…
Unconditional Love
There is never a moment today that I would think of anyone else before my little one. She has brought out in me love that I never thought existed; the unconditional sort. Every moment I make sure that her needs, her wants and she is put before everything and everyone, even myself. My life is no more my own, it is my little ones.
Power of Prayers
After a lot of heartbreaks and devastations, my daughter came along and restored my faith in the divine powers. Not knowing life, taking it for granted and merely going through it without realizing how precious and gorgeous it can be, every minute has changed. My little one has helped me connect with God and given me loads of opportunities to say Thank You.
Selflessness and Patience
Walking up at odd hours in the night for diaper changes, for feeds and to comfort a crying baby is never taught at the parenting class. It is something you learn on the job. Rocking your crying child to sleep in the middle of the night every day, numerous times teaches you selflessness and patience.
Respect
Being a mother makes you realize what others in similar situations go through. I try to more understanding towards other moms who are working moms or single moms or those women who are expecting. Not only them, but my respect and love for my mother has increased three-fold, for she had to put-up with a brat like me. Last but not the least I respect my husband more and more each day as he has guided and helped me through an amazing journey with patience, love and understanding.
Who says a child cannot teach you important things in life? My little one has taught me some of the most important things in life and guided and encouraged me to grow into a better, more self-reliant person.
Has your child taught you something special?

With millions of online shopping portals that offer beauty products you would say oh there is yet another one. But trust me BeautyBasket.in is a class apart.
I was really impressed when a friend sent me a link to the site. Currently they have only one brand offered Coloressence, but are in the process of bringing numerous other beauty brands on board.
Just launched in the last quarter of 2014, they have been progressing beautifully systematically bringing in a few products at a time, from lips to eyes to face and nails. As I navigated through the site, I loved the products from Coloressence and I’ve added quite a few to the cart.
The order placing was a simple process just like any other online store, and now I’m waiting for the products to arrive. Coloressence is a brand I haven’t tried earlier and so I’m excited to be receiving my haul products, especially the Luxury Lip Souffle and the Ivory Beige HD Face powder.
Beauty Basket has multiple offers going on that will make your shopping experience more delightful.
~ Inaugural Offer of Flat 10% off on all purchases; Use Code: FLAT10.
~ A Free Make-Up Pouch on the purchase of products worth INR 1000 or more.
~ A Free Vanity Kit on the purchase of products worth INR 2500 and more.
Exciting isn’t it? So what are you waiting for? Head straight to BeautyBasket.com and shop to your heart’s content.
Happy Shopping,

“It’s high time, let’s give up the bike and go for a car” my husband said.
Of course I couldn’t agree more. After all a baby was on the way and protection and safety was all we thought about.Gone were the days when we would just hop on a bike and zoom around the city, we needed something much more safe, some more secure and a lot more comfortable. That’s when my dad sent us over his car.
We were elated. However the joy didn’t last long with the outdated model giving us trouble everyday. Thus we were back to square one. Thank when Hubby struck gold with trying out Quikr NXT! We finally decided to upgrade our transportation mode using Quikr NXT.
Here is a step-by-step process of how we got our caaaaaaaaaarrrr:
Create An Advert
The first thing to do is to create an advert for what you want. Select your city, detail your needs, choose options and create that free alert advert to stay updated with available options and those new adverts that fit your needs via the QuikrNXT app. We first selected our own city as it would be extremely difficult to transport a vehicle from one city to another if we found it otherwise. The we went on to select our preferred car models and the year of manufacturing as we didn’t want a very mature car.
Identify Options And Negotiate
If you want to maintain privacy, hide your contact details and interact with sellers using the QuikrNXT app, where sharing information, negotiating prices, viewing images and much more is done at the click of a button. Also with the Chat History available, it becomes easier to compare available products and draw parallels between details and asking price. We identified about eight sellers and found out as much information as we could about the vehicle from each of them. Some fit a particular need, while another; a different one. Instead of being disappointed we kept looking to identify the hierarchy of needs to come to a better conclusion.
Finalising Options
Once you have all the important details about the car; year of purchase, last serviced, total kilometers travelled, insurance, registration details, etc you can finally narrow down your search from the many to a select few. We narrowed down our search to three to ensure that if there is an issue with a particular choice we have a back-up plan.
Inspection And Purchase
After narrowing options to a few, go about to inspect the car and see the papers before striking the deal. It is a good idea; if the seller agrees to do a trial run with your choice as something it may suit your needs but not your lifestyle. When we set out to inspect the vehicles we finalized, we realized one vehicle was missing a couple of papers and thus we opted for the one which we fully were happy with.
So this is the deal; find – ask – negotiate – inspect – buy, all through QuikrNXT.
So true to their tagline - No Fikar, Chat Quikr!

If there are only two words to describe me, they would definitely be chocoholic and shopaholic. Magical words which always brighten my day when someone says it with more enthusiasm and gusto.
Shopping that earlier was a chore for many has now become a great relief. Forget running around the stores to find the perfect outfit or standing in long queues to make the payments or even lug around your shopping in the maddening crowds. All you need to do is sit in the comfort of your air conditioned homes or offices and shop at the click of a button. Shop Online.
Sounds great isn’t it?
Now here is the additional cherry on the cake. What if you are given an incentive to shop online in ways of discounts and offers? Cannot believe it to be true? But it is.
Login to 27coupons India's leading discount coupons and deals distribution platform that displays discount coupons to retail buyers from almost all Indian Ecommerce websites to enjoy as and when they want. But I am sure you are going to argue that there are so many other deal and coupon portals then why prefer 27coupons?
For all those who need the deets before they venture into unknown territory, here is why I recommend 27coupons…
Easy Accessibility
The first and most important thing that I look for in a portal as soon as I land there is the overall look and feel of it. The homepage should define the purpose, the various areas should be easy to navigate and the portal should be appealing enough for me to say there. 27coupons is just perfect for landing.
Apart from the basic, I always look for one reason that my preferred option stands out from the crowd and with 27coupons I found quite a few distinctive points…
Clarity
As soon as you land on the homepage, 27coupons tells you exactly what the portal has to offer. The clarity in the sitemap and distinct categories make it simple for me to browse through what I really need instead of running all around the place.
Partnerships
Any portal that can give you information about their partnerships along with the number of coupons/offers currently running upfront instead of having to browse through is really great. 27coupons helps me choose the merchant I want to shop from in one click instead of surfing through different coupon options to find my preferred merchant.
Connectivity
A portal that directly connects me to the merchant sites makes it easier to browse through when interested in something and that’s what 27coupons does. Click through the offer or the coupon and you will land straight on the merchant page from where you can avail the same. No beating around the bush, straight to business.
Updates
27coupons has a twin update advantage. One part of it is the portal has regular updates with new offers and coupons and the second is that as a user you receive updates about coupons and offers you have earlier shown interest in or have saved on your profile.
And as usual when I find a site I love, I have to experiment. Since Holi, the festival of colour is just around the corner I needed no other reason to shop from one of my favorite online shopping heavens, Flipkart via the amazing coupon options 27coupons offered.
I picked up the most apt outfit for Holi, an all-white ensemble to be drenched in the colours of love. Now all I need to do is wait for both my shopping packages and Holi.
You must try 27Coupons and tell me all about your experiences.

Silk sarees are a woman’s priced possessions that she loves to flaunt time and again, as and when the occasion demands. Draping a Banarasi saree is a joy that is unparallel to anything else.
However as Banarasi silk sarees are passed down from generation to generation it is very important to maintain and preserve their beauty. Unfortunately the fear of ruining this treasure makes many women do the unthinkable… never wear the saree in fear of getting them dirty and storing them in a box in their closet. But that’s not how you maintain and preserve your sarees.
To preserve your silk saree, first and foremost ‘Wear Your Saree’.
Maintaining your silk saree is a tedious task, especially when you want to preserve the shine and luster. Silk sarees are washable; even at home, though dry cleaning is the best available option. Your aim while cleaning your saree must be to maintain the shine and luster along with the crispness of the design.
Washing
When you decide to wash your silk saree at home, never ever use soap at the start of the cleaning. First soak it in salt water for 20-30 minutes and then rinse it with cold water. Wash the saree a couple of times in plain water and then clean it quickly with mild detergent. First wash the pallu and the border finally moving onto the body. Avoid scrubbing with a brush, or bundling it up to un-crease the saree. After washing gently squeeze the excess water from the saree and hang it on the clothes line to dry, preferable out of direct sunlight.
Removing Stains
Lime juice is a miracle for removing stains. Add a few drops of lime juice to water to remove stains from silk sarees; however make sure you rinse it immediately as lime water tends to fade the cloth color. If it’s a stubborn stain then soak the area with petrol and scrub it lightly with a brush or soft cloth.
Ironing
The best time to iron your saree is when it is slightly damp, if not then dampen it using a spray bottle. Set the iron on medium to low heat, test a small corner first and begin by straightening the edges and the border. Fold the saree into half and iron each side while continuing to fold it into half further on.
Storing
Keep your silk sarees neatly stacked up in your closet or in a box away from dust and light. However don’t store your saree in a plastic pouch as it doesn’t give the cloth any breathing space, instead bundle it in a clean white cloth. If you don’t use your sarees regularly, bring it out for some fresh air and/or leave a few dried neem leaves next to them in your closet.
Even when you do so, always look out for new designs and patterns to add to your collection.
Stay tuned for a special offer for iCynosure readers!

Simply click on a deal that you’re interested in and it will take you to the merchant site in a new tab to explore product options, add to cart and finally shop. Ensure you check the Terms and Conditions to know exactly what the hidden terms are, if any.
Since I chanced upon this gem, how could I have resisted from actually trying the process…
Surfing through the Women’s Fashion Deals, I landed on High5Street to get a gorgeous ethnic outfit for the ongoing wedding season. With a flat 15% discount I managed to bag a stunning cream georgette embroidered ankle length anarkali suit for a little over INR 1200.
Next up was Jabong from where I purchased a much-needed white shirt and a party clutch.
Embracing my favorite colours black and white I loaded the cart to enjoy a good 30% off amounting to INR 855. In short I bagged products worth INR 2849 for INR 2095.
My personal experience with the portal has been extremely positive with exciting deals and offers at my disposal. What I really loved about them is the feature that you can save a deal or offer for future use if you don’t want to use it on the given day. One thing that really confused me was the actual difference between Get Code, Get Deal and Visit Sale. So I checked with the team and here I’m making it easier for you… Get Code is when there is a discount or offer code available that you must input on the merchant site after shopping. Get Deal and Visit Sale takes one to the merchant site where the discount is automatically applied when you are redirected to the site.
Website Strengths:
§ Large no. of coupon options in each category
§ Coupons save option to be used at a later date
§ Direct links to merchant sites to avail offers
§ Copy Code button for easy implementation
Website Weaknesses:
§ Registration compulsory to access print vouchers
Will I recommend the portal? Sure, Yes!
Will I purchase via the portal again? Definitely!
Have you ever used Coupon Codes to shop? Let me know.
Happy Shopping,

My mother is spectacular with her lion’s mane hair and sea green eyes; she is the cynosure of all eyes everywhere she goes. Whatever she wears, I will always I my mind’s eye see her in a pink georgette saree that she wore at my graduation. No one looked anywhere else but at her. Her style is immaculate.
It’s from my mother I inherited my sense of style while adding my own twist to it. Altering between ‘classic, preppy and simple’ and ‘over the top girly’, my two personal styles are perfect to bounce each other off.
One thing I do is wear outfits that I think are polished enough to have lunch even with Princess Gayatri Devi when I really feel like dressing up. During my dressing down mood days I opt for long tops and tunics with leggings to cool off. Distressed and Bohomanian are styles I really don’t care for or am not mentally fit to flaunt. Early on I realized whether classic, girly or chic, for me it has been all about dresses, tunics and skirts. One will hardly find me in formal pants or jeans unless it’s the need of the hour. Dresses styled with either scarves or leggings are very staple for me and have become more or less my signature look.
Since style is more about evolving each day, sometimes my signature look takes a back seat as I experiment with different pieces and colours to create unique looks that agree with my persona. Sometimes I do compromise on comfort a little bit to ensure the style symphony, especially in the footwear department. No matter what I’m wearing … monochrome, whites, blacks or pastels, I ensure that there is an element of colour pop in my look. Either a cocktail ring makes itself felt on my finger or a colour blocked handbag accentuates the outfit.
Unknowing over the years I’ve been so drawn to turquoise that it’s found a way into every corner of my wardrobe. From footwear to accessories and of course a lot of clothing, turquoise is dominating my style. I didn’t realise my obsession with the colour until I was made the butt of colour jokes by friends. But still that didn’t deter me from my colour fixation as I know what I like to wear and I’m never afraid to dress that way.
Now social media is only a swipe away and navigating takes one from current trend to trend, it is easy to get influenced by what you see and follow blindly. The entire experience can become overwhelming especially when you still haven’t realised and defined your own style. However having said that social media can also be a helping hand I disguise as it offers many avenues to discover new things and dabble in numerous fashion trends before finally finding your style.
Just the way social media has helped me understand that ‘an all-white’ ensemble or ‘a bodycon’ doesn’t work for me. It has also encouraged me to acknowledge that style is about embracing new trends after tweaking them in a way that they suit you and not vice versa.
Today I am not afraid to try new things but whatever I do I never lose sight of the girl within and the girl smiling back at me in the mirror.
And you, does she smile back at you?

With mommies on their feet the entire day every day, bedtime rituals should not only be relaxing for the baby but also for mothers. That’s the reason I have started to insist that bedtime rituals be restricted to a few minimum steps and not an elaborate 2-hour long marathon.
Sometimes we tend to go overboard as far as our children are concerned and not care about how much stress we put on ourselves to achieve perfection for them. And yes I’m guilty as hell because that’s what I did too. Until one day I realized that a mini-version of the same works just as fine, in fact much better for my daughter…
Over the last few years, I have altered the bedtime ritual from time-to-time keeping in mind the varying needs of my growing #PrincessHeer. Feeding bottles have been replaced by a glass of warm saffron infused milk, diapers have been replaced by mats, singing and rocking has been replaced by story-telling.
But the hugging and kissing never changes.
These days, the bedtime ritual is more systematic than before and takes about 45 minutes. We usually follow the below mentioned steps..
After dinner at around 7.30-8.00 pm there is usually a half-an-hour of games and fun time as daddy dearest arrives from work. This fun time helps my daughter calm down, using up all the pent-up energy while bonding with daddy dearest.
Getting Ready For Bed
A quick dip in lukewarm water filled baby pool is the best way to get my little one to relax. We quickly follow it up with brushing our teeth and finally putting on some soft cotton night suits. A quick massage using a moisturizing lotion works wonders as well.
Warm Milk
A glass of warm milk infused with saffron may be an old wives' tale but it sure has its positive effects on my little one. A lot of people may argue about not letting her eat/drink anything after brushing her teeth, but for me this works better with #PrincessHeer and so I follow it every day. She goes gargle after that though.
Story Telling and Prayers
We give her more authority, so she feels responsible. #PrincessHeer turns on the nightlight and turns off the lights as we snuggle into the bed. I narrate a story to her as she lays in bed. Sometimes she falls asleep during the story and at other times she doesn't which is when we then say our holy versus before calling it a night.
Hugs and Kisses
Whether she is asleep or on the verge of falling asleep, both hubby and I hug, kiss and cuddle her before we hit the bed. Not to forget whispering some sweet words to her, kind of makes up for the crazy day we’ve had.
This is our bedtime routine, but one must always tailor-make their individual routines as per the needs of the child. No two children are the same and thus the needs are different as well. Last but not the least, make sure you visit your regime every few months cause as your child grows, her needs shall change too.
Have fun, relax and sleep tight.

After After a tiring hectic day what do you really need?
A relaxing night’s sleep to cast out all the tiredness in the warmth of your fluffy bed, with a soft quilt and comfortable nightwear.. However to help our body relax choosing the right nightwear is extremely essential. It is extremely important to understand that all nightwear is not suited for everyone nor is it suited for every season.
So here are a few tips to consider before picking up the ideal nightwear for your needs…
Weather / Season
To pick the perfect nightwear one must reflect on the weather and season. Ideally in cooler conditions it is best to opt for full sleeved tops and pajamas whereas in warmer conditions, small sleeved tops and lightweight shorts or a long tank are perfect.
Fabric
Another very vital aspect while purchasing nightwear is the fabric that is suited as per the weather conditions. Cottons and Jerseys are light on the skin, ensuring that the material doesn’t stick to the skin allowing it to breathe freely. Thus Cottons and Jerseys are best for warmer conditions while heavier materials like Silk, Satin and Polyester are good for cooler climates.
Size
For a comfortable night’s sleep it is important that your night wear is relaxed enough for you to move freely. A little smaller in size will restrict your movements and a bit looser will pose a lot of obstructions, both causing uneasiness and distress. So choose the ones that are comfortable and feel good at the same time.
Length
Again the length of the nightwear is governed by the season or the weather conditions. For warmer conditions opt for shorter versions while for cooler conditions opt for the longer versions. However for special occasions something different that makes you feel glamorous works wonders too.
Colour
Usually the colours you choose reflect your personality and the same goes with the nightwear. Having said that lighter colours are most liked for nightwear, however for children and young adults a lot of colour and print options are available to experiment with.
With these tips I’ve over the last few years experimented with buying nightwear online and chanced upon an amazing young brand Nuteez (pronounced as New – Teez) that offers casual and lounge wear for men, women and children. The brand has moved away from the traditional concept of nightwear and ventured into a more funky – lazy approach to the concept keeping the ethos of it intact. I especially like the quirk element in the products that adds character to the dressing down time.
Made in India the products are designed by artists and designers from different parts of the country that highlights the soft peach hand finish that makes the products difficult to get out of. The products are designed keeping comfort and simplicity in mind, yet are extremely stylish adding to the persona and lifestyle of the wearer.
You must check their website here. They are also coming up with the summer collection very soon, will keep you updated.
